Metronidazole Tablets Recalled By Teva

Comments Off

A voluntary recall of Metronidazole Tablets USP was announced yesterday by Teva Pharmaceuticals, due to the presence of underweight tablets.

If a tablet is underweight, it may not contain the full amount of active ingredient prescribed, which can cause the infection the drug was intended to treat to become worse or recur.

Teva Pharmaceuticals has not received any reports of adverse reactions associated with this recall, to date.

The affected Metronidazole lot (312566) is packaged in 250 count bottles and has an expiration date of 05/2012.

Metronidazole is an antibiotic. It fights bacteria in your body including the vagina, stomach, skin, joints, and respiratory tract.

Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled drug and to return it to their pharmacy. For more information on this recall, please visit the FDA Web site.
